This year marks the 20th anniversary of Harmony Day, Australia’s celebration of multiculturalism and diversity. The continuing message of Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’, and the day focusses on community participation, inclusiveness, celebrating diversity, respect and belonging.
As part of the celebration, POF held a lunch that included food from many different countries around the world, and staff were encouraged to plot their countries of origin on a world map and discuss their different heritages and culture.
In recognition of Harmony Day, POF Managing Partner, Ross McFarlane, made the following statement: “After the tragic events in New Zealand last week, Harmony Day provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the need for inclusion in an increasingly polarised world. At Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick we are proud to celebrate our different cultural heritages.”
Harmony Day is an important reminder how vibrant and multicultural Australia is as a country and how much stronger we are because of it. We’re looking forward to next year’s celebration and to continue our tradition of celebrating multiculturalism.
