Intellectual Property protection for Apps in the Digital Health and MedTech space
Mobile apps have become ubiquitous, with recent data from IAB Australia/Nielsen showing that 52% of our digital time is spent on mobile devices, with app usage taking up the majority of our time and generating the highest levels of engagement.*
Apps in the health and fitness space are more popular than ever with hundreds of thousands available to help users with everything from calorie counting to meditation techniques. But are these apps protectable by intellectual property laws?
At this seminar, Mark Williams will discuss the patentability of app software, provide practical tips about IP protection, and outline some case studies involving digital health and MedTech apps.
Some of the topics will include:
- Is software patentable in Australia and abroad?
- Can you protect your app with a patent?
- Should you bother protecting your app?
- Can your app be protected by design or copyright?
The duration of the seminar will be approximately 1 hour.
