Copyright agreements
If you are a copyright owner, you may give your permission to someone else to use your creation, whether it is art, text, music or any other type of copyright material. You may also decide to sell your rights. If your business engages another organisation to create material for use in your business, you will need to make sure you have all the rights you need to take advantage of the material, including selling it to a purchaser of your business.
These types of agreements can be complex and challenging. It is important to get a solid agreement in place from the outset, as once you have allowed someone to use your work, or paid someone to create it for you, your negotiating position may be weaker. We can help you achieve the best commercial outcome by fully investigating the proposed transaction, negotiating critical terms and conditions, and drafting clear unambiguous documentation to minimise the risk of future disputes.
We have extensive expertise in drafting and negotiating copyright licences and sale agreements, as well as in interpreting and advising on existing documentation.
