Simon has a diverse background, encompassing programming, manufacturing and mechatronics. This is in addition to his acumen for business and finance.
Combining his knowledge from this broad spread of fields enables him to put intellectual property into its true context, and this helps clients to grow their businesses and achieve their goals.
Simon primarily specialises in prosecuting and drafting patent applications for computer-implemented inventions and helping start-ups and SMEs to grow. Simon’s work ranges from AI and computer-implemented inventions to mechanical devices. His interest lies in developing IP strategies which meet clients’ business needs.
Simon holds a Master of Engineering degree with Honours in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh. In his final thesis, he used MATLAB to explore the relationship between in-cylinder flows and turbulent flame propagation within internal combustion engines. Before joining the firm, Simon gained engineering experience from the food and beverage industry, where he worked in manufacturing for companies such as Diageo.
