Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick extends a warm welcome to our new associate, Dr Jessica Chadbourne, who has recently joined our Chemistry and Life Sciences team in our Sydney office.
Jessica is a PhD qualified chemist with a passion for working with inventors and innovators across the chemical sciences landscape.
Jessica has experience across the full spectrum of patent practice, including preliminary invention advice, drafting, filing, prosecution, strategic patent portfolio management, freedom-to-operate and validity opinions, expert evidence preparation, and Australian and New Zealand patent oppositions. She has also been actively involved in Australian pharmaceutical patent litigation proceedings. In the pharmaceutical sector, she has experience working with patent term extension and regulatory exclusivity regimes, as well as assessing freedom-to-operate for products and processes relevant to biopharmaceuticals and their development.
Jessica works with a range of clients, including SMEs, Universities and research institutions, foreign companies and multinational corporates. She has authored a number of industry publications across a range of IP law and practice issues and has given seminars on IP at industry conferences.
Jessica qualified as a Trans-Tasman (Australia and New Zealand) patent attorney in 2016 and has a PhD in chemistry and a Bachelor of Advanced Science (Hons I) in chemistry and environmental science. Jessica is also a NSW Justice of the Peace. Prior to joining Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick, Jessica trained in two top-tier patent firms and most recently in a specialist life sciences law firm.
