About the role
We are currently seeking a qualified or part qualified patent attorney or a trainee patent attorney to join our Chemistry and Life Sciences (CLS) team in Sydney.
You will be working on challenging and complex cases for leading companies and research organisations, in a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Candidates with limited or no IP experience up to 3 years post-patent attorney qualification will be considered.
You will have:
- A degree and PhD in chemistry
- A strong analytical and problem-solving outlook
- Exceptional scientific technical knowledge
- Attention to detail
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced computer skills and database researching skills
- Business acumen and willingness to engage with existing and prospective clients
- Industry experience where you have applied your knowledge of chemistry will be highly regarded
Your key responsibilities (under supervision) will include:
- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Australia and globally
- Providing commercial IP advice
- Patent portfolio management for local and international clients
- Presenting on IP topics internally and externally
- Participating in networking events, seminars, and business development activities
